How to play E/D on guitar

The E/D chord contains the notes D, E, G#, B and uses the intervals -2M, 1P, 3M, 5P. Start with the first voicing below in standard guitar tuning.

  1. String 6 (E): Mute string 6 (E) and do not let it ring.
  2. String 5 (A): Mute string 5 (A) and do not let it ring.
  3. String 4 (D): Play string 4 (D) open.
  4. String 3 (G): Press string 3 (G) at fret 1 with finger 1.
  5. String 2 (B): Play string 2 (B) open.
